Lifeline Trust is a registered Indian Non Governmental/Child Welfare Organization (NGO), working for children in distress, for rehabilitation of children with disabilities and for children in need of care and protection who are separated from their biological parents. We safeguard new born babies to 5 years (both male and female) and 6 years to 18 years of girl children.

Life Line Trust was started its “Action for children” on 18th Sept, 1998, by Chezhian Ramu, to provide an alternative family care for babies and children who have no families. From the day it started, it has been working extensively in Tamil Nadu, developing various child welfare programs. Life Line Trust focuses on child development through Children’s Rights, Education, Quality Care, Support and Protection.

Presently we work in Salem and Tiruvannamalai District in Tamil Nadu. India.

Chezhian Ramu (b.1969) was born and educated in Chennai into an orthodox family. He is the only son of his family. When he lost his parents in a road accident in 1991, he moved to Tiruvannamalai in search of peace, love and affection. As he came across abandoned children and begging children wandering in the streets of Tiruvannamalai, Chezhian compared his circumstances with that of the children’s, who were starving, not only for food, but also for shelter, protection and love. This awareness made him commit to “light the life” of suffering children.

In 1994, Chezhian Ramu established organization Terre des hommes core Trust in Tiruvannamalai to work for the children in need of care and protection. In 1998 he started Life Line Trust, when he came across the practice of Female infanticide and the suffering of girl children in Salem district, he committed himself to prevent and rescue the children who are in danger to be killed by their own parents. Hence he established Life Line Trust.

Mr. Chezhian Ramu received the “Rajiv Gandhi Mana Seva award – 2017” from The Honorable President of India Mr. Ramnath Govind for the best institution and outstanding performance in the field of children welfare for the past 2 and half decades.

He has been continuously receiving many state and district awards for his dedicative services towards children welfare. For instance, more recently he received a best social award from the District Collector of Tiruvannamalai on India Republic day 26 January 2021. Mr Chezhian Ramu served in various position in Government Committee from June 2004 to 2012, he also served as chairman of the child welfare committee in Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts. From June 2012 to December 2020 he served as Juvenile Justice Board.

Presently 26 child development projects are implementing in various districts of Tamil Nadu, like Tiruvannamalai, Cuddalore, Kanchipuram, Salem and Vellore.

Director with Children

“Our focus is to develop children and young adults to their full potential. My experience shows that thousands of children who were in our programs became independent adults, who are socially and economically successful members of our society.”
